Pre-Treatment

Stage 01 · Where every clean-water system starts

Pre-treatment removes the large, easy-to-capture contaminants first — so every downstream stage works harder on what actually needs it.

The Technology

Before wastewater can be filtered, separated or biologically treated, it has to be screened. Pre-treatment uses bar screens, settling chambers and trench collection to pull out grit, sludge, rags, sediment and the heavy solids that high-pressure washing drags off equipment and floors.

By catching this material up front, pre-treatment protects pumps, filters and downstream media from clogging and abrasion — extending the life of the entire WaterMaze system and keeping maintenance predictable.

What This Stage Handles

  • Grit & sand
  • Sludge
  • Rags & debris
  • Heavy sediment
  • Coarse solids
How It Works

Inside the pre-treatment stage

1

Collection & Containment

Trench drains and sumps capture wash-water at the source and route it into the system.

2

Screening

Bar screens and baskets strip out rags, debris and coarse solids before they reach a pump.

3

Settling

Quiescent chambers let grit and heavy sediment drop out of suspension by gravity.

Containment & Collection

Wastewater containment & collection systems

Water containment and collection is often the first and most important part of a water treatment system. Preventing water runoff is required for environmental regulatory compliance — and selecting the right containment for solids handling can make or break the success of the equipment downstream.
